Collecting information about user activity
In the Yandex Browser beta version, you can control the collection of data about your Internet activity by sites. You can prevent sites from collecting data about your online activity and block access to your microphone and video camera for them.
“Do not track”
Some websites may find out the addresses of pages you have visited and use this information for displaying advertising, gathering statistics, and so on.
To prohibit sites from collecting information about what you do online, follow these steps:
- Tap .
- Go to System.
- Click Personal data settings.
- Enable the Send a "Do Not Track" request to sites option.

Access to microphone
To work properly, some sites require a microphone, for example, to record voice messages or organize video conferences. You should control the access to your microphone in order to prevent unknown companies or malware from using it. Allow access to your microphone only to the trusted sites.
By default, when a site tries to access your microphone, Yandex Browser asks for your permission.

After you allow or deny a site access to your microphone, the Protect panel will display the Use your microphone option and the or
icon will appear in the SmartBox. If access to microphone is denied, it will be permanent for this site. Automatic access to microphone will be granted permanently for an HTTPS site and just for one session, for an HTTP site.
- Open the site.
- In the SmartBox, click the connection status icon.
- In the window that opens, enable or disable the Use your microphone option.
- Tap .
- Open Websites.
- At the bottom of the page, click Advanced site settings.
- In the Access to your microphone section, select the desired microphone from the list.
- Click Sites advanced settings.
- On the Not allowed or Allowed tab, find the desired site.Tip. If the list is too long, use the search. Click or the Ctrl + F keys (in Windows). In the window that opens, enter the site address.
- Hover over the desired site and click the Remove link that appears. The site will be moved to the next tab and allowed or denied access to the microphone, accordingly.
- If you have several microphones (for example, built-in and external), repeat steps 4-7 for each of them.
- Tap .
- Open Websites.
- At the bottom of the page, click Advanced site settings.
- In the Access to your microphone section, select a microphone.
- Select Not allowed.
- If you have several microphones (for example, built-in and external), repeat steps 4-5 for each of them.

To work properly, some sites require a camera, for example, to organize video conferences, record videos or take photos. You should control the access to your camera in order to prevent unknown companies or malware from using it. Allow access to your camera only to the trusted sites.

- If you have several cameras, repeat steps 4-7 for each of them.
