Protection from malicious sites
Activates if Protect finds malicious code on a website
The threat
Hackers often create sites that distribute malware. Going to one of these sites could make you vulnerable to online theft, or infect your device with malicious programs. Malware can slow down your computer, lock you out of your system, or cause any number of other problems.
How it works
Every day, as it indexes the internet, Yandex checks tens of millions of sites for the presence of malicious software. It records the addresses of infected or fraudulent sites in a special database, which it updates several times a day. The database currently includes hundreds of thousands of links. If you try to go to one of these links, Protect blocks the site and displays a warning.
If a saved copy of the page, which you can browse safely, is available, you will be able to view it instead.
How to turn it off
If you do not want Protect to block dangerous sites, just go into your browser Settings, scroll down to the Privacy block, uncheck “Enable protection from malicious sites and programs,” and restart the browser.
Please note that, in addition to sites, Protect will also stop scanning your downloaded files.
